Google launches possible FARR competitor for windows

Windows only: Remember Quick Search Box, Google's new search-and-launch application built by the same guy who developed Quicksilver? Well, now it's available for Windows—you've just got to install Google Toolbar in IE to get it.

Apparently it's not anywhere near FARR's featureset so no need to be concerned but it will be interesting to see where they'll take it.

They won't so much TAKE it anywhere as they will simply PUSH it everywhere possible. This is what big corps do.

Woo, "QuickSilver" for Windows, might give it a spin. Shame that it requires the Google Toolbar, that's a big con in my book.

It doesn't look like "Quicksilver" for Windows aka Skylight http://www.candylabs.com/skylight/ has had any updates since March '08. It's currently still in beta and requires .NET 3.5.

fyi

Heh, requiring you to install their toolbar? Lame.

Wouldn't have made me switch from FARR even if it didn't, though :-*

at the current state, this seems more like a 'jump onto bandwagon' state. only users' feedback and complaints will determine how far they are likely to take it.
