free and small mp3 player wanted
« on: February 18, 2009, 04:50 AM »
Hi,

I'm searching for a new player to loop files (after the last one in the list the first should be played again). It should be controllable with the keyboard (pause/resume) and should be rather small and simple instead of bloated. Other than that I only need (or let's say "I'd strongly prefer it to have") the ability to load play lists.

Winamp isn't running that well on this PC and xmplay crashes quite often when I pause and resume a lot (and virtually never when I just listen to live streams, very strange).

Which player(s) do you suggest?

What version of WinAmp? I'm still using WinAmp 2.8 Lite and I'm happy with it. If the older version runs on your PC you might want to consider it.

One of the more recent versions....

After reading your reply I downloaded the most recent "Lite" version from http://oldversion.com/Winamp.html, installed it, and it crashed right after the end of the installation! WTF!

I then installed version 2.95 and the same thing happened!

Seems my Winamp days are over (at least for the time being), so please hit me with more suggestions.  8)

Thanks guys, first impression: great!

I'm blown away - again - by what's possible with AHK.  :-*

Kinda funny that Trout (which is based on the BASS audio engine) will now at least partly replace xmplay here, which is from the same guys over @ http://www.un4seen.com/! 8)

I also updated xmplay from 3.3 to 3.4 while looking at the site.
