Having lived downstairs from some alleged lunatics, this hits me *right there*

Re: silly humor - post 'em here! 2 musical spoofs from Britain.
« Reply #5726 on: March 26, 2019, 07:07 AM »
NPC WARNING! The following post includes explicit language, mixed with social commentary and  dollops of irony and satire  - a Good Example of British humour in times of stress.
May seem difficult to understand if all one can see is politics.

17 Million F*ck Offs - A Song About Brexit.
Absolutely brilliant and cruelly accurate statement, all put to music by the author/singer/performer Dominic Frisby - a respected financial writer, libertarian and entertainer.

I originally saw this video linked from Guy Fawkes' Blog - https://order-order.com/2019/03/21/17-million-fk-os-2/
Apparently it was charting at No.1 on Amazon UK at 1 quid each.

As 1 reviewer put it:
With all the Brexit stress we needed some light relief and Dominic has done an admirable job with this comical account of Brexit set to the tune of the old English folk song "Widecombe Fair". Not too sure if there's any reason for using this particular song - is the "old grey mare" Brexit and the merry group of men the remain MPs?
He manages to feature most of the antagonists, names who you will know and now have a helpful way to remember them for later encounters. Bravo.
__________________________

The lyrics make good use of the well-known old folk song - Widecombe Fair - because it is an old favourite and lists lots of people/names/details, each chorus ending in"...and Uncle Tom Cobbly an' all, and Uncle Tom Cobbly an' all." - which phrase became part of the English language (as a colloquialism).

There's more humour though - this next one is a cleverly-done spoof by Remainers, cobbled together using words spoken by Brexiteer Jacob Ress-Mogg and put to music: https://twitter.com/PoliticsJOE_UK/status/1092740115716362241/video/1
I rather like it.

@Edvard: I liked "Everyone's Upstairs Neighbours". Very droll. Nice find. Thanks for posting.

Have had it several times already that offices move from one building to another and that I had to pull all the network cabling from one location to install this into the other location....and that I wasn't allowed to spend extra time to cut cables to size where needed. Because cheaper. Which is shortsighted as any future maintenance becomes more time consuming because of the "puzzle factor" that that any cable mess introduces. and there is only so much you can do to keep (much) too long cables out of each other's way. Lack of storage space for the surplus cable makes it not fun to work in patch rooms/server rooms in such cases.

Ah well, it is as it is.

I here ya man. I do work for a local school, and the first time I went in there they had 100+ cables on their rack all of which were 6+ feet longer than they needed to be … And all of the server/VoIP VLAN/backbone/etc. were also all the same friggin color.

$300 worth of color coded 1 & 2ft patch cables -and 5 hours of trace/replace - later the Admin almost cried when he saw what I did with it.

Man, I hate needles
The look of the person getting the needle prick, that is look of someone not able to cope with the extraction of blood. How do I know? When entering military service in 1995 (obligatory at that time in the Netherlands) hundreds of young men were marched through a building where you got a blood test and "stereo" shots (one in each arm) for possible international deployment. As my platoon was one of the last ones to be called up for this, I saw more than enough of them (often bigger than me) faint, puke or a look on the faces just as the person being pricked in the image above.

All of us got those shots in the morning and were excused from doing exercises or anything else related to the military. Because the shots were considered to be pretty "heavy". That and we got them on a Friday morning, so you could spend your weekend sick at home, to go back to base on Sunday night and be "fresh" for a new week of military exercises, drills, lessons, sports, shooting practice etc.

Rest assured, the meme in the image is not lost on me, but the look does not match the text and that kinda ruins it for me.
Spoiler
So I couldn't help but ruin it for everyone else too. An image of a person with the same look getting a new tattoo, that would be much better fit for this meme.

I caught my wife with her funny bone momentarily off-guard recently when I got her a dozen roses. After we got home and they were put into a vase, I spotted a stray rose leaf on the kitchen linoleum. We're always talking about health foods and herbal cures, so I said, "You know what that can cure?" As she scooped up the leaf and deposited it neatly in the wastepaper basket, she absent-mindedly asked, "What?" I replied with a smirk, "A broken heart." She laughed.  :)

Instead of saying, "Would you like to have an avocado?", you can say -which sounds deliciously almost the same- "Would you like to avocado?"

Did you hear about the air-dropped cow that it's parachute failed to open?
It was a meatier meteor.  ;D

PS - For any whimpering cow-huggers, it's a joke already! :) I trust we may safely assume that no real cows are actually hurt in actual air-drops. :P

Not sure about cows, but pigs, probably, at least if this source is reliable.
