The Rev. Ian Paisley has just died. This person's name might not carry much significance to you if you are unfamiliar with the UK's history of the period when IRA terrorists were travelling around Ireland and England killing and maiming people by the use of guns and explosives - including knee-cappings, executions and nail-bombs exploded in public places where there were likely to be lots of innocent bystanders about (men, women, and children), for maximum collateral damage effect.
These were all things that the good Rev. Ian Paisley - together with a great many other British people who remembered WW2 and valued life, liberty and democracy and who had learned never to negotiate with or give in to terrorists or other fascists - took a rather dim view of.

Former DUP leader Ian Paisley has died aged 88.
Listening to 5Live [a BBC radio broadcast channel], Dominic Laurie I think, the most pressing issue was to ask, and keep asking, if the ‘intransigent’ Ian Paisley prevented the peace process from being successfully implemented much earlier….was it his fault the conflict kept going? Might of course have had something to do with the IRA….I don’t know, but it’s possible. ...
