40hz: imho that picture is pretty fail - the whole point of the "priceless" meme is that the priceless thing is supposed to be something negative. We can discuss whether linux is that or not, but it obviously isn't to the guy wearing the t-shirt :)

Um...not where I come from! ;D

In the USA, the word 'priceless' would (in this particular context and joke framework) be interpreted to mean a combination of "delightfully amusing" and "having a value beyond any price" (see definition 1a & 3 below).  Neither interpretation suggests negativity.

'Priceless' is also frequently (and incorrectly IMHO) used as a synonym for the word 'perfect' where I live.

from Webster's Dictionary

Priceless

Pronunciation: \ˈprīs-ləs\

Function: adjective

Date: 1594

1 (a) having a value beyond any price : invaluable (b) costly because of rarity or quality : precious

2: having worth in terms of other than market value

3: delightfully amusing, odd, or absurd

I do think, however, that the last two sentences don't really work. It would have read better if the author left them out.

40hz: I'm aware of the dictionary definition of priceless, but I was referring to the "priceless" mêmê. The idea is to list a set of prerequisites that require either effort or money, and end up with a "<bad consequences>: priceless". Here's one of the milder examples:

nosh: cute complaint - at least the guy was occupied during the flight :P

f0dder: I agree it doesn't fit the meme exactly, but as you well know, the rules of many memes are frequently bent to the dismay of a thousand 4channers...
For example, try to use ellipsis at the end of a Candlejack thread post  :o

You're just mad cause it's a fanboi shirt :P

EDIT: Did I just say Candleja

It also all depends on whose même you're citing. To my way of thinking, MasterCard came up with the original, and their message was that, whatever 'priceless,' applied to was always to be taken as a positive outcome.

And just because a bunch of sarcastic webkiddies and trolls decided to hijack it, and make a cottage industry out of parodying those MasterCard ads, doesn't mean that I have to go along with it.  :P

"Those who can't do, teach. Those who can do neither, mock."

You're just mad cause it's a fanboi shirt :P

Edvard! Priceless!!!  ;D 8)

Not mine, found on the intertubes.
"This looks shopped" is a meme all it's own.

Updated second post.  :P

Glad you like it.
It's been used to perpetuate a few of the more well-known memes.
Personally, I get a kick out of this one:

This one is an obvious:

I don't know how many DoCo members either run their own tech businesses, or are responsible for tech sales or support, but this YouTube vid had me laughing out loud. Not to say that all tech companies are without fault with their ridiculous licensing, draconian upgrade pricing, and oftentimes poor customer service. But for people and organizations who are trying to provide quality products and services at reasonable and realistic prices, much of this clip will be all to too familiar.

The Vendor Client relationship - in real world situations

Link: http://www.youtube.c.../watch?v=R2a8TRSgzZY

I especially like the guy (above) who keeps reiterating "C'mon work with me on this." and "This is not a challenge, this is an opportunity." as he tries sell the sales clerk on a bad deal. Every year I get into two or three of these exact same discussions with people who have no intention of being anything other than a one-time client.

 ;D

(Thx to Cliff over at Xerox for sending me the link!)

Nicely done..  ;D
I'll bet there are a few salesmen who start passing this around to colleagues.  Makes you realize how strange the world of high-end sales is, where everything is negotiable and you're always dealing with finessing the details to build long term repeat-sales relationships.
