In the early 2000nds I had a Pentium III machine still had a 3 1/2" floppy. I can remember some little Dos bootable utilities the only way I could get them to work once I no longer had a real floppy drive was to use a virtual floppy to create an image and then manipulate that onto a USB stick. After messing around with that a bit I just gave up.

The scary thing is that the rising generation using computers today may have never used (or even seen!) a floppy disk!
That's one of the best examples of a skeuomorphism I can think of.
