Noise

What exactly does noise do? I downloaded it, and then typed in a letter into the box, and then I walked away, and then came back to my computer a while later, and nothing was opened, and nothing looked different on my computer, and my screen saver was on. I don't understand what this program does.

On my computer, when i have noise running, the screensaver won't come up, as noise effectivelly simmulates keypresses.
Are you sure you don't have any script launching the screensaver, instead of windows itself?

the only thing I have running that does that is ultramon, but I didn't have 2 monitors running when I had used the program, at the time I didn't have any thing running that did anything with the screen saver.

The thing is: noise only makes simulated keypresses. This is fine for windows' default screensaver, it won't be activated. But programs that look for real keypresses will still make the screensaver start, that's why i was asking.
Not sure what's happening to you, then.

Im using the ultramon screensaver, I wouldn't think it would mess up with that, it doesn't look for any special keystrokes. I dunno, I'll have to switch to the default one right quick and see if it works.

Does it prevent power management from shutting off the monitor?  I seem to have a stubborn applet in control panel.  I use a KVMA switch and no matter how many times I set Performance Profile to all Nevers, often I get monitor kill when I jump to the other pc.  I go in and look at the settings and it's changed back to 20 minutes for monitor instead of never.  Really annoying!

I use Noise to stop the screensaver kicking one while the in-laws are using skype, works great 

And it's especially good, considering I'm using it on a laptop which has a screen saver controlled by group policy.
