Hard Disk Heat

The heat of my hard disk started to vary between 53 degrees - 60 degrees.

Does this mean that there is a problem with it and does it need to be replaced?

For my information not to repeat the same mistake; This is a notebook and I use it vertical to the floor (parallel to the side walls)

After the heat problem, I no longer use it that way however the heat problem continues but would that kind of usage be the problem that caused the problem? that the HDD was vertical to the floor?

I'd look at the cooling vents on the exterior of the laptop - check for excessive dust buildup. You probably won't be able to see anything, though. Up until recently, I would have recommended blowing compressed air through the vents to blow dust out, now I'm not so sure! Perhaps a vacuumn cleaner would be a better option?

thank you Darwin. Your answer complements what I searched today on this issue.

Shades:
A harddisk is quite accessible in a laptop, you could take it out and see if dust particles are near the harddisk compartment as well.

If you are confident (in your assembly abilities) enough then you could take out its keyboard as well. That made it a whole lot easier on my laptop to remove all the collected dust and put some graphite to the bearings of the internal cooler.

thanks shades. I am not competent to do all those !!! I will bring the laptop to a computer shop to get fixed / cleaned.... but knowing what the problem is, with the information all of you given will help me to express the problem to the techie guy better.
