Thanks a lot, sri - just what the doctor ordered!  :up:

Edited:
What extension used to give me Highlight > Open in Reg' Editor ?

- or was it purely a Maxthon feature?  :-\

There was a right click extension for 'open in reg editor' for Explorer (and therefore probably for Maxthon too).

See: http://www.petri.co....in_regedit_in_ie.htm

I tried it eons ago and it worked fine.

There seems to be something similar for Firefox (but I haven't tried it)

see http://www.softpedia...pen-In-RegEdit.shtml

or https://addons.mozil...S/firefox/addon/4478

Just tried the Firefox Extension and it seems to work fine.

By far my favorite extension is http://www.foxmarks.com/

I have 3 XP & 2 Linux boxes at home, several work machines all running foxmarks, all with several thousand links, always up to date and synchronized using this awesome add-on. I used to use both MyLinkVault (worthless) and Sync2It (problems with synching-lost links) until i stumbled across Foxmarks...I've yet to have any problems with Foxmarks even when they went thru a major server/version upgrade a while back.

I only wish that firefox would improve upon their Bookmarks Manager or make an add-on that allowed for better link management. I find it hard to believe that when i do a text search for one of my links, it finds the link so i know it exists, but it doesn't show you what folder it's currently sitting in. :-\

hi too hairball !
dont need to synch at the mo, but if i do.. :up:

I've struggled a bit with ff bookmarks, now I just use the FARR ff plugin & save the bookmarks with a word in there somewhere that'll make sense to me later, & dont bother segregrating it into folders - mind you, if you're saving a huge amount of stuff that probably doesnt help that much in terms of organisation...

[but FF sure dont help much in terms of organisation as you say]

I'm using a few things to improve bookmarks, i was using powermarks, but since its coming to the end of its life i thought id try and get it all back into ff itself. So

2 pane bookmarks, description says shows in sidebar in 2 pane style like opera, whatever it has 2 panes which is handy  ;)  (the home page is basically all in japanese, but it is easy to find at ff add ons site

Bookmark duplicate detector - as the name suggests http://bookmarkdd.mozdev.org/

Bookmark sorting http://www.oregontec...rt.com/bookmarks.php is the home page, tho the version i have is later than the one mentioned on this page right now, so if ya want it i'd get it at add-ons site

OpenBook 1.3.4.1
Last updated: 2007.04.11
Allows for customization of the Add Bookmark dialog. The bookmarks tree can be automatically opened and elements can be hidden.  http://www.chuonthis.com/extensions/

Ohh and I use Foxmarks to synchronize and store my bookmarks, makes them available anywhere as well as just the synching

These give me most of what i wanted, and it also means things like keywords and comments will be kept.

1. It might be a overkill, but I just found a extension that mimic vim's behavior in firefox. While it seems intimidating at first glance,it's actually quite good at saving screen estate and minimizing hand movement. :-*

Only for the hardcore fans tho
http://vimperator.mozdev.org/
It is quite well documented (commands are mainly in the "various" category of the documentation) and there is a wiki too http://vimperator.cu...?title=Configuration

2. Another one I like is the secure login extension. The default password manager shipped with firefox always leave me unsatisfied. It feels somewhat awkward and insecure. The secure login extension prevents prefilling the form and can also temporally disable javascript to prevent cross-site scripting. Best of its feature, imho, is that it is much easier and snappy to use. It automatically highlight the form. You press Alt-N and it not only automatically fills it but also presses enter for you. If you have two accounts, it offers a box to select one and off you go. Very Handy!

Am not a heavy user but I can highly recommend;

Foxmarks - If you use Firefox on more than one computer, you'll want Foxmarks. Install Foxmarks on each computer, and it will work silently in the background to keep your bookmarks synchronized. You can also log in to my.foxmarks.com to manage your bookmarks from any computer.

Adblock Plus - Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them.

Stop Autoplay - Disable the autoplay of the embedded music and movie. The users have 2 modes to choose:
1) Disable only the autostart of the embedded media. The users can press the play button of the controller to play it.
2) Block the media when loading a page. It will be replaced by a red frame. Press the red frame to load and then play it.
This extension can also convert the ie-only tag "bgsound" to "embed", and it can also block Flash media by a costumizable blacklist.

PDF Download - PDF Download relieves the pain experienced when encountering PDF files on the Web. Whenever you click on a PDF file, PDF Download lets you know before trying to open it, and then offers you choices such as downloading, opening, or converting it straight to HTML.

Download Helper - The easy way to download Web videos from hundreds of YouTube-like sites.
This works also for audio and picture galleries.

sorry...I didn't post the links too...am pushed for time & it's my first time (but didn't mean to rhyme :-) but I will get it together. Hope that helps some people as Firefox truly rocks when you get it working to your needs.

you can use Locate in Bookmark Folders for that.

Nice list of add-ons!

you can use Locate in Bookmark Folders for that.

wow thanks for that. I was having the same frustrations as hairball with the Bookmark Manager's search. Haven't tried this extension yet but am definitely getting it after this!

One of my favourite add-ons ever is Separate Tabs - it groups tabs "automatically by host URL" by inserting a blank 'separator' tab between groups of tabs. It's not that polished in Firefox 1.5 (looks very nice in Firefox 2!) but I did use it for a year, until I got Tab Mix Plus, which made the 'separator' tab the same width as all the other tabs, kind of defeating the purpose. I have with some sadness disabled Separate Tabs ever since, as I value the features of Tab Mix Plus more, but I do miss it.  :/

(p.s. Separate Tabs has not been updated in over a year and I have emailed the author asking about an update, but I'm not hopeful...)

Here is the list of some of my favourite extensions:
  • Adblock Plus 0.7.5.5
  • Add Bookmark Here ² 3.0.20080730 -- why is it not part of Firefox?
  • AI Roboform Toolbar for Firefox 6.9.90 -- can't live without it, well worth the money
  • All-in-One Sidebar 0.7.6 -- very nice
  • Allow Right-Click 0.4 -- is there ever a legitimate reason to disallow it?
  • Better Gmail 2 0.6 -- ? (show shortcuts) is the most useful shortcut available
  • BetterSearch 1.20 -- thumbnails for Google search results
  • CoLT 2.4.1 -- Copy link text, often very useful
  • Configuration Mania 1.09.2008070501 -- easy access to many useful about:config options

  • Link Alert 0.8.2.1 -- show link type when hovering over it.
  • Menu Editor 1.2.6 -- with this number of extensions, default context menus are horribly crowded.

  • Tab Scope 0.2.2.8 -- thumbnails for tabs
  • Toolbar Buttons 0.5.0.5

Firefox 3.
Note that this does require quite a bit of time to start up, but since I always have Firefox open, I don't mind it.

Cybersearch, integration of site searches within the awesomebar, its so much faster.
Stop or Reload, merges stop / reload button.

After these two, you can remove the searchbox, (and homepage) icons, move all bookmarks fto the side of the awesome bar, then hide all but the one toolbar. very powerful.

Here is the list of some of my favourite extensions:
....
Finally someone has more extensions than I do....

@ alexey_r
One extension I think you are missing, though, is Extension List Dumper ....

Extension List Dumper
http://sogame.awardspace.com/eldumper/
https://addons.mozil...S/firefox/addon/3746

This extension adds a button ("Dump list") to the Add-ons window. When this button is pressed, a new window is opened with the list of installed extensions, themes or plugins (as plain text, as HTML or as CSV).

In addition to the name, some other information can be added to the list:

    * The version number.
    * The description.
    * The homepage URL.   ;)
    * The add-on ID.
    * The application (Firefox, Thunderbird...) min and max version.
    * The add-on status (incompatible/disabled).
    * The application version and the Operating System.
    * The total number of installed add-ons.
    * The date the list has been generated.

The list can be saved, printed and copied to the clipboard.

This extension is useful to keep a list of your extensions and themes, or when reporting a bug or a conflict to an extension author,
... or when telling about your extensions, at DonationCoder's forum  8)

It does take quite some time to check out your listed extensions...

Hi, everyone!

(BTW, I'm not actually "new" here. I just changed my nick to make it the same I use in other forums, but I only had about 20 posts in a couple of years, so it's not like I was a "regular" with my previous nickname)

Anyway, on to the subject, I'm afraid I have to confess that I may have a Firefox extensions addiction ...  :P  I didn't browse this whole topic, but it seems I may be the one who has more extensions installed  :o
I currently have about 60 extensions running and surprisingly (or not) Firefox is very stable and responsive. The only "symptoms" are a slight delay in the start up, but no more than 3 or 4 seconds. Memory usage (Private Bytes as reported by Process Explorer) is fairly low too, a little less than 300 KB with over 70 tabs open.

I was planning to post the list here but it'd probably be overwhelming - and take a whole page of the thread. So instead I'm attaching the file with the list so anyone interested may download it. The list was generated by the extension suggested by Curt a couple of posts ago (thanks for the tip   :Thmbsup: )

And please tell me I'm not the one with the most extensions. Someone has to come up and top me!  ;D

I'll have what she's having

Naw man, post away.

I checked the rar file and it's right at home with everyone else's.

I can't speak for everyone but usually what I think people or at least I consider lots of extensions are those with tons of toolbars + the extensions you listed.

To get an idea of this, go and download all the toolbars in the FF extensions page and create a self made ribbon for FF.

Btw, if you like the vertical tab bar of tabkit, you might want to check out Tree Style Tabs.
