I've used programs before to make my TaskBar transparent.  It looks great when viewing the desktop but is inonsistent with a maximized window.

How about making the TaskBar transparent only when a window is not maximized.

Thanx 4 looking.

smiley How about something like this?

NoTransMax - Maxes the taskbar transparent when no windows are maximized.

Feautures:
- Uses the existing transparency if any.

You'll find the downloads and more info at Skrommel Software.

Slight bug skrommel...

If you right click > Exit, it removes the taskbar, and Explorer.exe needs to be restarted to restore it :/

Hi Skrommel.

Thanx 4 this.

The first time I ran NoTransMax my Taskbar was dissapearing instead of being made transparent.  It seems 2 B running fine now.

Is it possible 2 make the taskbar transparent when using the Show Desktop button in the Quick Launch bar?

On your page the version is still listed as 1.0.

Is there any advantage in running the exe or the ahk version of your utilities?  Does 1 use less resources than the other?

I just encountered the problem that I mentioned previously with the Taskbar totally dissapearing instead of just becoming transparent.

I tried using the mouse to see if the taskbar was just invisible or actually missing & I can confirm that it was missing.

I used right click > exit when the taskbar was present & it dissapeared like PhilKC said.

tellme Happened here, too! I have no idea... It's such a simple script...

To recover for now just rerun NoTransMax, maximize a window and then kill NoTransMax using the task manager.

tellme Now I can't replicate the error...  but it must be a problem with getting the original transparency of the taskbar.

Try the verision I just uploaded. If you have a very transparent taskbar when starting NoTransMax, it sets it to 50%.

I found a Tool - and a "laborious" way - the taskbar-image-color in the theme.msstyles must
be adapted to one Color eg. Magenta - but the shadows of the High-Color Icons keep staying
(and no fade effect) hmhm...

Modifcation: vista.zip (201 KB)

Quote
TaskBarTransparent Version 2.1 (7 Nov 2004) Andreas Grögel

http://www.ag1.de/utils/index.html

TaskBarTransparent sets alpha blending (transparency) and/or colorkey for the taskbar and
optionally transparency for the Start menu for Windows 2000/XP.

Especially useful if you create your own visual style for Windows XP and want a "cut-out" taskbar
(which the (current) XP style engine does not support). I have not yet come across another program
that can do that...

TaskBarTransparent.exe does not stay resident (thus not occupying any resources) - it just sets the
window styles for the taskbar and Start menu and then exits. And no files or data are stored elsewhere.

Download taskbartransparent21.zip (27KB), includes readme and executable file.
