We have experimented with Ads on the website.. we may do so again in the future, who knows.. It was an interesting experiment. I tend to prefer it without Ads myself.
You remember I once fought ads tooth and nail because of my perception of all things G00gle (I still hold that perception), but came to realize that was a bit myopic; after all, I do not "own" DC. Mine is but one vote, besides with the Proxomitron, I can have *my* cake and you can eat *yours* too if ads will help
Having said that, I do agree with you about preferring them to not be on DC. Anyway you cut it, ads are a distraction and add "pressure" to the experience. The thing I have really appreciated is how laid back and "unpressured" Cody's Home
