Feature - Restricting Searches to Folders

(1/1)

tmpusr:
Searches only certain folders, by a using a prefix, like
m bombtrack (e.g. would search for bombtrack in C:\Music, D:\Download\Music)
v insaneflick (e.g. would search insaneflick in C:\Video, D:\Video, E:\Video)

Could be anything you can customize it all:
.v v, v. v# #v or vc vd ve for single drives
Perhaps a space before the prefix would mean you're using this one. Perhaps another hotkey for opening in a folder restricted search mode. Perhaps a double tap of the normal hotkey would switch between the search modes - I guess that'd be ergonomical. Otherwise you'd have to use some prefix or postfix (for the first letter(s) only) like , # / .

mouser:
you've come up with the same solution i did :)
it's coming in version 2, very soon.
i've been refering to these as search "modifiers".

not sure what you mean by using a hotkey or double tap for switching between search modes.

tmpusr:
I mean that if you don't use a prefix or a postfix on a modifier e.g. #v or v#, just plain 'v' would be regarded as a normal search word. Unless some intelligence is built in the software that can distinguish between the intention to use the first string as a modifier, you should have two modes of operation: Modifier mode and Normal. In the Modifier mode the first word is always considered a modifier whereas in Normal mode it is not, unless a pre/postfix is added to it.

Switching between these modes could be achieved by a quick succession of taps on the Pause/Break key.

Example:

I want to open and switch to Modifier mode: two taps.
Back to Normal: two taps.

Or just use a separate hotkey for Modifier mode.
