Hello zere, my fellow Germans! I thought we could have an official get-together of the German Donationcoder faction as well. I know I am late to the game, but let's try this anyway.  I would love to get to know the members of this great community. And at the same time I want to show off the club I do voluntary work for. For several reasons I decided to have this take place in Berlin, our poor but sexy Capital. That means, some of the German user won't be able to make it. But they can have their regional get-together as well! So how about we all meet on January 3rd, in the club c-base in Berlin-Mitte; about 3pm-ish?
Moin! Ich hab gedacht, die deutsche Abteilung der Gemeinschaft um Donationcoder.com sollte sich auch mal treffen. Ich weiß, dass ich spät dran bin, aber vielleicht klappt es ja trotzdem. Es wäre nett, die anderen Mitglieder kennenzulernen, schließlich sind wir eine tolle Gemeinschaft. Und es wäre nett, meinen Verein vorstellen, für den ich soviel arbeite. Ich habe mich aus mehreren Gründen für Berlin (arm, aber sexy) entschieden; auch wenn das bedeutet, dass einige Mitglieder aus Deutschland nicht teilnehmen können. Die können dann ja ihre eigenen Regionaltreffen abhalten! Also was haltet ihr davon, wenn wir uns am 3. Januar in der c-base in Berlin-Mitte so um 15:00 herum treffen? |

I was surprised to discover I could follow almost everything in that announcement. Not bad for someone who only had three years of German Language in high school, and hasn't done anything with it since. Maybe I'll add that to my New Year's Resolution list: Take some classes so Ich kann mit Deutsch vertraut noch einmal erhalten. (I hope that wasn't too incorrect!  ) |

The meeting is over! Only one other guy was on board: urlwolf. Nevertheless we had a great 5 hours of talking about everything from coding, privacy and encryption, psychology, web services, and various other topics. There will be definitely another meetup, probably in February. housetier said he'll organize this and urlwolf is interested in coming again. I won't make it but I'll join the next time I'll be in Berlin (probably end of May). If there are any DCers near Stuttgart, now is the time to speak up! I'm heading back home for Stuttgart tomorrow and if there's interest and people we can meet up at a bar, have a couple of drinks and just chat. mouser asked for pictures and here they are! As you can see, there's plenty of room on board the c-base space station for bigger meetups. ltr: urlwolf, housetier, gjehle    |

wrong! that place IS cool you only see a small part of it tho. it spans 2 1/2 floors, has a bar, electronics lab, soundproof sound/video stage, workshop etc a proper hackerspace |

The c-base will be there for a little while longer I hope. It's just - with our financial problems - not 100% sure. It is a good place though, worthy of having regular or even frequent DC meetings
