Install trouble on NT
« on: November 25, 2005, 07:39 AM »
Hello,
I've installed ProcessTamer (as try) on a 2k machine, and everything goes fine.  But install on my NT homeserver fails  (ones that I use on my ADSL connection) with an exception while setup is trying to access a function in the KERNEL32.dll, that is not present.
The NT 4.0 with service pack 6a (with IE 6.0 installed).

Could you help me?

Thanks
Erisk

can you say where the exception occurs - at what stage in the setup?

also try this -
all of the donationcoder.com setup .exe files are actually zip compatible and can be manually unpacked.
try opening the processtamersetup.exe in your zip program and extract the files manually, and then run the program without installing.

the exact message is:
"The procedure entry point GetLongPathNameA could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.DLL"

I don't remember exactly when the error arise, I'll check it later, when I'll go home,  but I bet that this error raise in a very early stage of the installation process. Ok, I'll be more precise.  :-[

Ok, I'll try to unzip the file and run the program without installing it.

thanks for your answers!
:)

Ok, everything goes fine now.
I've simply unzipped the distribution archive with unzip and manually configured and started the program, and it's OK.

Thank you.

great-
but i'd still like to know a bit more about the error so i can figure out what might be causing it.
can you tell me if it happens after you get the first page of the installer screen (with a Next button), or if it happens even before that.
did you see the initial messagebox saying it was about to run the installer?
