Any good free OCR software?

(1/3) > >>

kartal:
I need an OCR tool that is free. Sorry I have no budget for softwares nowadays. I tried Jocr but it is no good for me. Any more alternatives that DC users use daily?

thanks

tsaint:
You could try Topocr from http://www.topocr.com/
Sometimes it's worked really well for me, at others, it's been, well, passe.

I've used SimpleOCR in the past. It does okay. All I needed was a text output for a client from a 2nd-generation photocopy. The periods came out as degree symbols ;D

I've heard good things about Softi FreeOCR which uses the Tesseract OCR engine that Google took over development from HP.

Here's a list of some others:

Well all those free alternatives are not giving me any good result :(

How about low end stuff?

iirc ronriel came up with AutoIt script called rOCR recently. worked quite well for me along side with jOCR.
