*giggle*

When do manufacturers learn to run their disk images through quality control before mass-producing and shipping? And when are employees of big companies going to learn that public warez sites suck, and they should join private torrent communities? And stop browsing pr0n at w0rk? :)

That's just professional isn't it.
The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

The Eee or the malware? :p

I'm very happy with my Eee 901 so far at least! Use it for note-taking and surfing mainly.

Well, at least Asus recognized it and owned up to the mistake. Bought one of these for the wife recently w/Linux loaded for travel and it's really a nifty machine. I see the attraction as "highly useful toy."

thought I may as well ask in this thread as any
does it have a modem ? (they never tell you these things anymore, as if the world has dsl)

thinking of recommending it to an older relative who was considering a laptop but really need a (bigger) monitor (I can relate to that myself) but they dont have broadband. THey'd just be using it for text/writing and the odd bit of internet

If you look at http://uk.asus.com/p...spx?l1=24&l2=164 you can get the specs of the different models from the ASUS website. There is no mention of a modem and looking at the pictures there doesn't seem to be a built in socket for one.

It took me ages to find a manual - I have attached one here for the WinXP version (unzip and the PFD is inside)

*** Edit failed to attach because it is too big *** sorry

They don't have a modem but they do have USB ports so you could easily add a USB modem.

thanks a lot Carol

oups - I meant the Ass EEE PC BOX - the "desktop" computer. I should stated that clearer (but it is in thread title!)

I had also meant to post the page where I had looked at specifications - which was what I was referring to with "they never..."
They never do say what a product doesnt have - I can understand it but I hate that approach to business

And that is saying something these days.

I don't expect perfection from a company. But I am always impressed (and will continue to do business with) a company that admits an error and then makes good on it.
