IDEA: Sound from two USB headphones.

Great site! I don't know why I haven't found it before this!

My request:

I don't know if this even possible but I need a program/driver so I can plug in two USB headphones and hear the same sound from both eg. games songs etc. The two scenarios I need this for is when my brother is watching me play BF2142 he can't hear any sound. My two daughters are playing a game together on there PC and only one can here sound. My wife doesn't like all the noise from PC's while watching TV so normal speakers are out. I don't want to use non USB headphones with a splitter.

After looking through Google and thinking of how this could be done programmatically, I have come to the conclusion that it is not possible or not very easy to do due to this being a low level system function. With normal headphones, you can easily get jack splitters but there are no USB audio jack splitters. A possible solution that uses USB is totTry using wireless headphones that can broadcast to multiple headsets. Example: http://www.everythingusb.com/hauppauge-xfones-usb-dolby-headphones-14178.html

Theoretically, it should be possible to hook into the system, take over the audio output, and send it where you want to. But this is much easier said than done.

Is latency an issue here? Because a solution might be to record from a headphone and playing on the other one, with about 20ms latency. I've been doing this on my desktop computer for a few months, and works wonders :)

Basically, it records from Soundcard 1 Stereo Mix and plays it back to Soundcard 2.
There's a small delay involved, but it works.

Also, I think Virtual Audio Cable might do the job just fine for you.
