SOLVED:Need a little help with videos and google chrome

(1/1)

nite_monkey:
I love the google chrome browser, but I can't get it to play avi files. I says that some dll files are missing, but I can't find anywhere to download them.
If someone has gotten video files to play in chrome and could help me out, that would be great.

The dll files that it needs are:
libfreetype-6.dll
libxml2-2.dll
libz-1-2.dll

edit:I found two of them in my vlc folder, and I found a website to make a plugin or something of vlc for chrome, I will see if it works
edit2:The plugin didn't work, but I found all but one dll file in the vlc folder, and the other one I was able to download from a free dll site, and now video files play.

cmpm:
Kind of funny....
On one computer I kept a version of VLC Player.

All those files are in VLC.
Though I'm not sure what you would do with them.
Put them in system or system32 or leave them in vlc.

So download a version of vlc and see if it works.

cmpm:
vlc 9.2 has them all

after the search i tried to load it to find the version number
it gave me a bunch of errors or notices regarding those files and more
but it did load after hitting 'ok' about 10 times

what site has the avi, maybe that will help

nite_monkey:
I've solved the problem, chrome doesn't have a plugin support for vlc, so I just had to copy the dll files from vlc over to chrome's folder, and it worked. I was trying to watch an episode of tekzilla.
