Have anyone thought of starting a new GOE? I personally needs Getting Organized more than ever, and although I've progressed a few small steps, I could definitely use the extra motivation that a DC GOE would give. Or is Getting Organized already mission:Accomplished for you all?!?  GOE 2008? GOE 2009? GOE Winter 08-09? Anyone else thought of this? |

I might be up for the GOE this year. I have successfully reduced my workload (I quit one of my jobs), and am now in the process of organizing of what is left of my life...

I didn't get a system going, only got some ideas that I never managed to develop any further. So when I get the time (  ) I'll come up with some ideas for a new GOE... |

I have some ideas for this. Maybe we could focus on specifics like email, or (physical) desktop or something. I think it's a good idea to focus on specifics, but it should be up to each participant which specifics that should be. For instance, email or my physical desktop are pretty much the only things that I don't consider a mess... ok, a bit of an overstatement, but you get the idea A better idea, IMHO, would be for each participant to publicly list which specifics he/she would like to focus on and maybe make regular posts about the progress. How often? I don't know, but let's say an update every week or so. Obviously you're not responsible for this to anyone but yourself, but I imagine that for me at least, it would be an extra incentive to get things done if I'll have reveal my progress. It's not too cool seeing everyone else making huge strides towards getting organized if I still can't get anything done. This way, we can also give each other tips and ideas along the way.  |

I am happy in Chaos, it's the way I am.
I know it should be more organised, but I do ten times more things then the next 'organised' person.
Yes I envy their planned life, the spare time they have, the neat and tidy desktop.
Yet again I pledge my allegiance to the DC cause.
ToDoList has been a shining light, just need to knock out a few to many tasks, and add some leisure,
I'm In.
(Category chosen is 'delegate' , stop doing everything myself and get somebody else to do it.)

How about starting a new child board (GOE 2009) and people can post about their ideas what they'd like to work on and we could take it from there?Then, when people have theme(s) they could add a distinguishing marker to their threads related to that theme - adding name at the beginning probably easiest ? e.g. "[tomos]-Procrastinating again :-)" (can sort by titles then and group each persons posts*) my list (themes) would be something along these lines clearing backlog - mostly stuff in boxes à la my post above - expectation/sense of obligation -> procrastination (avoiding/reacting because of pressure from self or others) Again, I cant remember the third ... (organisation comes to mind as another theme!) And because it would be individual projects it really doesnt matter how many or how few get involved - obviously nicer to have a bunch of people involved though * I forgot: can sort by "Started by" column

Does someone want to volunteer to be the the supervisor of whatever "Getting Organized 2009" entails?
I think waiting until january would be a good idea for several reasons, not the least of which is we have our big NANY 2009 thing that ends on or around January 1st so we don't want GOE 2009 to start until a couple weeks after that finishes.

I've been thinking about this a bit, and although I don't really have the time now, I'll consider if I could do this supervisoring without getting more mess that needs cleaning up, so to speak. After December 16 I have more spare time so I'll be able to spend some more time on GOE09 then. The DC community has given me a lot, so I'd love to be able to give a little something back, although I won't make promises...If there are more ideas out there, then please post, and maybe we'll figure something out together Edit: guess I didn't find the time  Hope this is the year that I'll find a working system... |

Let's start discussing some ideas.. if we are going to do a DC fundraiser in march it would probably be best not to overlap the GTO thing with that, so either go for something more manageable in feb, or plan for something bigger in april maybe?
