hi kimmchii,

i've never heard of this issue but a search of google suggests that it is some problem with winpcap and some people's strange network setup:

http://www.google.co...p;q=winpcap+npptools

first thing to try is just rebooting.  if same error then try this:

go to winpcap page and search for any help in support page:
http://www.winpcap.org/

if you can't find any better help try this:
uninstall winpcap from control panel
reboot
reinstall winpcap standalone from winpcap page: http://www.winpcap.o.../install/default.htm
reboot
see if it's fixed.

hi mouser, thank you for your help.

still nothing worked, i used nlite to trim down xp, and from your google search link, this person is having the same problem, but no solution.

i found that there is only one person that has the same problem when using urlsnooper, this is the thread, judging from the date of the post, i dont think it is due to nlite, it could be the USB modem that i use.

i will image my drive and reinstall xpsp2 fresh see if it fixes it.

please let us know if that fixes it - it does sound like nlite may have removed some important file..

Hi Mouser,

I installed US today and get the same error like the other guy.  >:(

I only get the "URL Snooper EAccesViolation" message - not both!

(I copied that picture from the forum & wasn`t able to split it  :-[ )

The difference is: I run a Win2K machine with 2 accounts
1) Administrator
2) User <---- I use this one for my everyday work. Means I never go online as Admin (except Win Update & stuff like that)

When I launch US under my Admin account, everything is just fine, everything work perfectly

Though when I log in as User after double klicking the US - shortcut on my desktop that error message (see picture) comes up.
To provide you a complete information, here`s what I did EXACTLY:

I installed US under "User" and Wincap under "Admin". Then (still under Admin) I gave full acces rights for "User" to these folders: D:\Programs\UrlSnooper   and C:\Programs\Wincap

So why the heck is it Crashing? :tellme:

OK, I hope I`ll get a quick response...

Regards 2 all

IQL:

try searching for winpcap and "administrator rights"
url snooper uses the winpcap engine and i'm sure there are some posts about this issue at winpcap support site or web.

Under the Administrator log-on go to C:\Program Files\URLSnooper2, change security permissions for the User group to Full Control (assuming the user with the problem is part of this group).  You should be able to right-click the URLSnooper2 folder and chose Properties and then the Security tab to access this information.
