8) Really my pc stinks :-[

I don't think so.  :-[

Here is mine: http://appsapps.info...c9820-2005-07-28.htm

It's an old report but nothing has really changed since then, except some OS patches & software.

And another great reporting tool that you can select what to show in it...Last free version of Everest Home Edition. Probably not too good for the latest & greatest hardware, though.

And a pic of my combo CPU fan/PSU:
hamster.gif

Poor little guy has been running as fast as he can, almost 24/7 nonstop, for the last 11 years (I have only owned the PC for 9 yrs, though). He's an immortal super hamster. Is there a hamster Olympics with a marathon? He would probably win gold.

Well, if it runs as slow as your computer does....then it will spend another 9 years just to finish the marathon! ;D

But he'd be the only one to live long enough to cross the finish line, if they made the length the same as a human marathon.  :P

From my profile (updated specs), my primary PC:

eMachines T3612 Desktop PC (it started as this)
Antec Ninehundred Gamer Case
Intel Celeron D 360 @ 3.73GHz w/ 2MB L2 cache (overclocked, air)
2GB Samsung DDR2 4300 RAM @ 287MHz (overclocked, air)
Unknown Intel LGA 775 motherboard - FSB @ 144MHz (overclocked, air)
Seagate 7,200RPM 120 GB hard drive (SATA)
Western Digital 7,200 RPM 40GB "Dump Drive" (IDE master)
Western Digital 7,200 RPM 20GB "Home of Ubuntu" (IDE slave)
ATi Radeon HD2600 Pro 256MB DDR2 PCIe @ 800MHz core (overclocked, air)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Gamer Edition w/ 64MB X-RAM (PCI)
Cyber Acoustics headset (unknown model)
Happauge TV tuner card w/FM tuner (PCI)
HP vp17 17" 5:4 (1280x1024) LCD monitor w/ built in speakers (connected to motherboard sound for Ubuntu)
Sony DVD/CD/Lightscribe RW drive (SATA)
Dynex 23-in-one 3.5" front panel card reader
Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard (blue)
Logitech G9 Wired Gaming mouse (blue LEDs)
Antec Blue LCD rear case fan (150mm)
Antec Blue LCD front case fan (150mm)
Antec Black "Big Boy" top case fan (200mm)
EPSON Stylus CX9400Fax all-in-one printer
Total of 6 USB 2.0 ports (5 work, investigating the 6th)
Unknown make/model, 700W PSU (I found it on sale a year ago for $75 - for 700W! Who cares who makes it??!?! ;D)

OS info:
All this runs on Windows Vista Home Premium w/ SP1 (Build 6001), and over 70% of my Seagate hard drive (C:\) is now games.
Most of this runs on Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04) w/ all updates, and over 50% of the drive used. (Most, because my X-Fi won't work, along with my TV tuner card >:()

I program about 1/4 of my applications now, ranging from my browser to a startup manager (runs at startup, and lets me pick what I want to run RIGHT THEN for that session). Can't get much more personalized than that!

EDIT: And a friend lent me his Logitech DRIVING FORCE Pro about a month ago... hasn't returned to get it... I guess you could call that "mine" (he told me he never uses it anyways...).

Would you be willing to share that as a coding snack? ArchaicTimeFrog is looking for this kind of functionality here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=14856.0

;D ;D I noticed it was from an old IBM laptop, I just found it strange as it has almost as much RAM as hdd :) (well, not as much, but the RAM amount is considerable when compared with the disk :) )

I'm pretty sure there is a/some website that detects this information. I don't know the name of any that do only this, but my Xfire profile page did it for me.

you know what would be useful is a free program to generate these kind of hardware description list as output.
then people could all use the same program to paste.

Forgive me for not doing it myself right away, but I don't have the time at the moment, (and I already have told about my system), and this 'solution' is maybe a little too amateurish and unstandardised..:

My System Properties, from Leelu Soft, http://leelusoft.blo...m-properties-10.html, download from: http://www.esnips.co...93e304c4/MySysProp11

You can have 8 lines and a picture telling about your system.

p3.JPG

- and it would be easy to copy&paste such info from this program.

Here's another candidate... System Spec

With System Spec you can see, save and print a complete spec of your PC. This standalone, system information utility can also perform various windows functions. Additional advanced info includes CPU, drives, applications, display, memory, networking, internet, CD / DVD drives and more.

systemspec261.jpg

System Spec can be used for posting a spec of your PC on Internet forums simply by clicking the info to clipboard button and pasting it in your forum post.

This program just grabs info off oeminfo.ini, as far as I can tell.

My System Properties, from Leelu Soft, http://leelusoft.blo...m-properties-10.html,
This program just grabs info off oeminfo.ini, as far as I can tell.

- yes, you're right. The only purpose of this program is for you to tweak the display of your system on your PC.

My System Properties let you customize the system properties page (My Computer>Right Click>Properties>General) in a fast and simple way.

Select your logo
Enter the manufacturer information
Enter the computer model
Enter up to 8 lines of support information
Apply, and that is all.

I probably shouldn't have told about it on this particular thread.

I was recently given a circa 2000 Samsung Sens 820 notebook with a BIOS password that no one could remember:

PC 5:
CPU: PIII 600Mhz
RAM: 192MB SODDIMM
HD: 12 GB 4200rpm
OS: Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04)
Graphics: ATI RAGE Mobility 128, 8 MB
Soundcard: No idea!
Korean keyboard

I defeated cleared the BIOS password by disconnecting all power and unplugging the CMOS battery overnight. My next challenge was a bum install of Windows XP and what turned out to be a dead stick of RAM (when I received it, it had 2x128MB RAM - I swapped in a spare 64MB SODDIMM I had lying around). It was *supposed* to get Xubuntu, but I popped in the wrong install CD :o :-[ I'll probably uninstall Ubuntu and install Xubuntu at some point as Ubuntu is a bit slow on this configuration (no surprises there!).

Yes, Curt! That should be a blazing machine! Are you going to be running 32-bit or 64-bit Vista Home Premium? Hope it's 64-bit so you can use all 4 gigs of RAM. Having said that, the 3 gig that I am running in my notebook are MORE than enough to keep me grinning when I use my computer... Let us know what you think of Vista (I know your g-f's computer is already running it and that you've played with it, but now you'll be "living" in it)!

Jesper - nice notebook  Vista has been a big surprise for me, consideirng the bad press.

I did TRY to consider 64-bit, but realized that I knew too little about the subject to understand what would become of my favourite 32-bit program - so 32-bit it is. I hope the 7777 dkr is a fine (=low) price, but the salesman knew even less about computers than me, though he would be pleased to also offer me a washing machine, of which we also both knew next to nothing...

I never before took interest in the 32 vs 64 -bit situation. It is however not too late to return the package and get a 64-bit instead, but it would take for me to first understand if I then will loose all of my 32-bit programs?
