Screenshot Capture was reviewed at addictivetips two day ago:

Capture Screenshots, Edit And Add Special Effects & Objects

We have previously covered screenshot tools like Shotty and Greenshot, but if you are looking for a screenshot tool that lets you do more than just capture screen area, give Screenshot Captor a try. Screenshot Captor is a very extensive screenshot capturing tool that lets you take screenshots, edit them, add special effects, adjust colors, add objects and share with others. It lets you specify pre-capture and post-capture settings, special effect and drawing object options and file naming templates.

Screenshot Captor is a massive tool with a lot more options included.

doesnt really belong in this thread, but that error indicates that the download did not complete.
try again using a different browser (or clear your browser cache and download again).

And here comes Freeware Genius with a wonderful writeup of Version 3:
http://www.freewareg...ght-just-be-the-one/

The verdict: there are two or three free screenshot taking apps that are the best (PicPick comes to mind); but Screenshot Captor is undoubtedly the leader of the pack.

And let's not forget the Tech Support Alert Comprehensive Screenshot Capture Software Review that recommends Screenshot Captor as Best in Class.

PC World has a really nice review of Screenshot Captor this week, especially loving on the new Scrolling Capture features:

If you don't mind the initial learning curve, you'll find Screenshot Captor 3 to be a very capable screenshot application that makes things as simple while still providing enough tools to obtain professional-looking results... The end result was a beautiful screenshot of a page containing an animated GIF. Screenshot Captor 2, Snagit 0.

@Mouser - That's a very favorable review. Congratulations. :Thmbsup:

---

Too bad however that it only averages three stars because a couple of old one-star user reviews (one in 2010 and one in 2008) skew the simple average PC World uses. That's a shame because many people looking for something to download start by scanning the star ratings before they'll even read a full review.

The two negative reviewers biggest complaint was about how registration works at DC - not about the product quality. (They also misunderstood the registration process. Something I've seen in other reviews.)

Maybe some people who want to share the love could add their own (honest) reviews to the mix and get an additional star or two up there? (I see Stephen66515 already did.)

Here's how it currently stands:

Stars     Review date
-----     ------------
 5          03/22/2012
 4          12/02/2011
 5          12/12/2011
 4          08/20/2011
 1          04/01/2010
 1          12/24/2008

Scott Fulton over at ReadWriteWeb just started a long series on Windows 8, and mentions that one of the first programs he installed is Screenshot Captor:

Nice screenshot-filled walkthrough of setting up and using Screenshot Captor on AppStorm:

"This is a very versatile tool and whether you are capturing images for fun or need screenshots for a work project, you have all of the tools you would expect to find in a commercial product in this fantastic free utility."

Screenshot Captor is a best-in-class tool for ...
And in my opinion it deserve the comment big time. Thanks for this App Mouser
I wanted to bring your attention to an old comment that I just read about another similar need that have been filed by skwire
See     Request: Left-mouse-click triggers a PrtScr press in the background « on: October 15, 2009, 10:11:46 AM »
Your Screenshot Captor include many ways to trigger screen capture but not this one implemented by Skwire.
I just wanted to let you know that it would be a nice feature to add,
More precisely I was thinking of triggering the screen capture by pushing a combination of say: Control + Left Mouse
instead of having to go click on the tray icon every time you want to screen capture.
In my particular case I need to screen capture a rectangular area of about 3000 screens.
Each one must be area selected.
You can imagine that the least action per capture I have to do the better it is, considering this many actions.
Just an idea...

Thanks... Viau

Try Shift+PrtScr as the shortcut to activate Region Select Capture mode.
