I am looking for a freeware app that logs in to my pop3 email every few minutes, and with a filter forwards selected mails to a different address.
(I want selected emails to be forwarded to my cell phone thru the SMS gateway.)

I don't know about the filtering aspect, but the type of software you are looking for is called a POP Connector (might help narrow down the search).

I think it's very similar to a connector, but I don't just want the mail in a different POP mailbox.
I want it to get messages, and then *resend* to a different email address. (my SMS address).
That feature seems hard to find.

I guess you aren't using gmail? With gmail, you can setup a filter that will forward any messages from a certain address to a different address.

The email client Foxmail has as one of it's filtering actions "forward mail" - to any other email address. |

Can I can set up a gmail account to *automatically* check my dennis@pacbell.net POP3 account, and then have it *automatically* forward that email to my 28928282@sprint.com address? (and leave it on the pacbell server) UPDATE : Yes, This Gmail scheme does in fact work. The only downside I see is that all my mail now also goes through Google's servers, so slightly less private. Would be nice to have a standalone app that I can run locally, so still looking if one exists. I did try Foxmail, but it's in Chinese. |

Eudora. (Windows)
I can run another mail program on a different machine that checks mail, and forwards, if it can do it all unattended.
Any suggestions?

You should see if Eudora can do this for you. Many email clients have the capability of filtering incoming mail and applying rules. Usually one fo the rules that can be applied is to forward the email.
I believe that Eudora hasn't been supported/updated in a while (though I could be wrong about that), but I'd think that it would support this type of feature, though you might need a 'Pro' version. Eudora used to have a free version that had some features removed compared to a paid-for version. I don't know if that's still the case or what version you might have, but it would probably pay to make sure that the client you're using doesn't already support what you need.

Eudora does not do this. It cannot retrieve mail and then resend unattended.
The problem wtih Foxmail is that the install program was all in Chinese too, and it asks me questions I dont know how to answer. It seemed to take over as default email for mailto links, as I probably said ok to that.
Some app must do this!!!
