Computer problem, maybe you can help

This sounds very much like the problem a friend of mine had a while ago. His mother was working with Office when their cat passed around the back of computer and... bang! the computer stopped working.

After another friend tried everything he knew over the phone, and I did the same in his house, the only thing I could think to get the computer working again was that the motherboard has some problem (maybe it was just the CMOS, who knows...) and such it had to be replaced. A few days later, and with a new mobo in place, everything was fine again. And the symptoms were pretty much the same.

Uh, not that I'm aware ;D. He just passed by, which is something he (or was it she?) seems to do frequently.

There are no other lights or anything on the machine other than the power light and the motherboard light.
Internal speaker might be unplugged, but I don't see one anywhere...
And yea, if nothing else works ill just attack it myself. ;D

(Off-topic & Ironic: the day he asked me to start working on it I was wearing my Geek Squad shirt. Hope I am not falling to their level of service & "quality" when fixing stuff. Of course for this problem they would just charge your $300, tell you they reformatted Windows, and when you come back in the next day with the same PC you had when you dropped it off initially, no techs are to be found ;D)

EDIT: Cats = ESD nightmare
(Maybe that explains why mousers computer broke a while back! :P)
