Idea for our upcoming Fundraiser - Volunteer Stuff for Donators

We were talking on the donationcoder chat channel and came up with a possible idea.

The idea is for people to pledge things they will give to donors during the fundraiser.
So people could pledge an item or even better a service, and an amount of donation needed to qualify.
Once an item was claimed it would not be available for others, so it would be first come first serve.
Things on the list might be like:
$50 donation = i volunteer to paint you a picture
$100 donation = one hour therapy session from KenR
etc.

I wonder if anyone knows any web service that can manage such offers and claims?

Or is this a bad idea?

I personally think that it is a good idea. It could promote other things that standard commercial models cannot.

This sounds little more like local currency-time money concept.

I have always interested in time money and similar community based efforts. So I personally would like to support such ideas as much as possible.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all.  Time will tell.
The only real way to predict the motivational value of promotions is by some kind of testing.

Unfortunately I can't think of anything that I can offer in order to contribute to the cause.
I don't think 'for a donation of $25 I'll insult your intelligence' will really cut it.

well i think the services should be as strange as possible, and as hard to map to monetary value as possible, so i think your $25 insult is a good one.

$500 - i will name the first squirrel i see outside of my window in your honor
$10,000 - i will mail you a picture of the squirrel
$50,000 -  i will capture the squirrel and put a name collar on it
$100,000 - i will build a house for the squirrel and put your name on its tiny mailbox

I dunno, call me materialistic but
I think I'd donate my 50,000 bucks quicker if I could get something concrete for it (no dead squirrels please Chris :p)

Ok, I guess I will pledge the first real item with a realistic "price tag"...

I discovered a lot of vintage yarn awhile back and I am crocheting something with it. I have no clue what it will be when I am finished, probably an afghan of some sort. It will be pastel colored...pink, blue, pastel ombre. It could be quite large and most likely round. I am really not sure how big it will be.

I don't know how long it will take to finish. I am just going to keep crocheting till I run out of this yarn. Might not be available to send to the recipient till some time in the winter, maybe a bit longer.

But for a $50 donation to the site, when it is finished, I promise I will mail it to you.

Just in case it is important to you, I do have pets (a cat) and I am a clove smoker. I will wash it before mailing it. (I am disclosing this info because things like that matter to some people)

NOTE:  Please do not place a claim on this item until the fundraiser officially begins.
