Auto-synchronize FTP folders with HD folders?

(1/2) > >>

brotherS:
Hi,

is there a (free?) tool to auto-synchronize FTP folders with folders on my HD? So that I can set it to "synchronize D:\random stuff\ with [FTP URL]/some stuff in here/" every 24 hours?

Also, which newbie-friendly (free?) FTP tools do you recommend? I haven't used FTP in years...

Carol Haynes:
I have been using AlFTP (from Renegades AlTools site). It has a few roigh edges but it seems to work pretty well.

I have also tried using FTPGenius (part of the ZipGenius pack) but can't work out why it won't connect to some site???

A good workhorse (not free) is WS_FTP from www.ipswitch.com

mouser:
might also be worth a try:
http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

NewKreation:
I use SyncBack.

http://www.2brightsparks.com/downloads.html

It FTPs, synchronizes, schedules and V3.2.10 is %100 freeware(scroll down).

allen:
CuteFTP Pro isn't free, but has the best auto-folder synchronization I've seen.  It will monitor a folder on your computer and on the server and reflect any changes to either one to the other.

You might also want to give BatchFTP a try -- I reviewed it in the mini-reviews section.  It's not free, but it's cheap (15 bucks).  It integrates with windows scheduler and can be set to perform scheduled FTP operations in either direction.
