instead of launching programs farr opens notepad

I have just installed FARR. I read the help and looked at the forums. However, when I try to launch a program, it just opens notepad. Maybe I'm showing how computer illiterate I am but can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank Thom

Just a thought...
You don't have your default action for windows scripting stuff (.wsh, .vbs, .js) set to open notepad instead of launching a script, do you?
Some 'let's-be-safe' tweaks like to do this.

thom0522: Could you try launching the calculator? Does that still happen?
My doubt is if it happens for all file types or only for some. Also, when it opens the notepad, does the notepad have any file open (any text)?

I've enclosed a shot of the notepad that opened when I tried to start calc. Hope this helps. In response to whether i have windows scripting set to open notepad, where would a check to see if that is setup right?

Ok, there definitelly is a sever problem there. I've just tried opening the shortcut to calc on notepad, and the result was very similar to that.
Can you try making a shortcut to a file and open it by double-clicking it? (outside of farr)
Something with the association of shortcuts might be messed up.

Also, please try something else: go to farr's options and toggle "Always launch shortcuts directly...", maybe that helps.

How about for other file types? What happens when you open an .mp3 orr a .wav file on farr?

Mouser, I download the version which you posted in the other thread that you referred me to and everything works fine. I can launch programs as well as mp3 files. Thanks for your help. I've tried other launch programs - launchy and keybreeze - and I like the way FARR works a lot better. Thanks again. Thom
