webcam as mouse?
« on: June 02, 2008, 07:05 PM »
Does anyone know any application that will let me use my webcam as a mouse? I searched internet for a while but it turned out fruitless. Any ideas?

thanks

Have you tried downloading it? :) That is what I meant by fruitless.

Note: The download links are currently disabled as I work to fix some bugs in the previous version and recover parts of the code I lost due to a hard disk failure. I estimate this to be back on in a week or two. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Get uMouse:

    * Download uMouse windows binary/setup
    * Download manual in pdf format

I have looked at all those pages already ::) That one for example provides the source only no installer. Let me articulate myself better. I am looking for a software that has been tested and used by any dc member  :-[

One note with the Mtmini, Make sure the webcam IS IN a box! I tried to do that setup, only I had a glass door to an old stereo cabinet, and I just taped a bunch of pieces of paper together, and put them on top of the glass. That didn't work, because I just had the webcam on the floor looking up at the glass, and too much light was getting to the camera, so it didn't work.

Well, it isn't quite what you wanted but it is the closest I know:

You can't download it yet but it shouldn't be too long until a public beta.

Holy cow, vitalyb. Too bad I'm not into gaming or anything like that. Maybe I should start, it's getting quite wild.

Wow vitalyb! Cam-Trax looks amazing! I'm almost buying a webcam on the fly :P I hope it gets released really soon.

From their webpage blog ( http://www.camspace.com/blog/ ):
We have decided to release only free versions of the product. We will never charge users for the software.
We are currently getting ready to release a BETA version for Windows. We can’t talk about a specific time period, but soon. Very soon.
A version for Mac is on our to-do list. Linux is as well.
We are currently a small garage operation and are overwhelmed by the attention and excitement our video created. We promise to grow to the challenge as soon as possible and make good on our plans.

And fresh in from left field, racing into center stage:

HeadMouse2

Found another mouse control proggy, Camera Mouse - Camera Mouse is a free program that enables you to control the mouse pointer on your computer screen just by moving your head.
