AVG False positive on MouseActivate ?
« on: June 08, 2008, 03:46 AM »
Has anyone encountered this AVG Threat Detected ! warning for MouseActivate

It says Virus identified Worm/Autoit.BKL

I assume it is a false warning as this program comes from none other than www.Donationcoder.com

Never had this warning before until today.

Anyway, I clicked the AVG's healed command and it says successfully healed.

yes, this is a false alarm. by healing, AVG means it has deleted/quarantined the file. :)

hahaha.. seriously though, the antivirus business is getting really sloppy and greedy, and turning into snake oils salesmen, and this is a good example of it.

instead of telling you what they really know and did, i.e. "we don't understand this file so we deleted it" they say "virus found -- file healed".  this kind of stuff is getting out of hand.  where is the antivirus for adults and computer users who don't need to be treated like children?

Have you looked beneath the shift key?  ;)

Heard the rumour about a new AV paradigm?

o_O, I expected AVG to be able to distinguish between healing a file, quarantining it AND deleting the whole damn file. I wonder what made Intel think AVG was so attractive to drop $50 million in Grisoft, perhaps I'm missing something?

What it's clear is that Grisoft did not improve their ways between version 7 and version 8.
