Monitor system changes

(1/2) > >>

ak_:
I'm wondering if there's a way to monitor system changes (file writing, registry modification etc) done by softwares. In fact, i'd like to be able to launch my Wacom tablet control panel (yes, again), change a property and get a log of the operations induced by this action (modification to a file or the registry or whatever).

Which software could i use ?

Thanks.

I think that SandboxIE could probably do this. I've found that it doesn't work will ALL apps, but when it works, it allows you to know where it has written. (it doesn't tell you where the app read, though.. i think)

Mmmm, I guess any software installation monitor like REVO Uninstaller or Total Uninstall will fit the bill. Regshot if you want something simpler without all the extra features of the other two.

This might be what you want:

FileMon monitors and displays file system activity on a system in real-time. Its advanced capabilities make it a powerful tool for exploring the way Windows works, seeing how applications use the files and DLLs, or tracking down problems in system or application file configurations. Filemon's timestamping feature will show you precisely when every open, read, write or delete, happens, and its status column tells you the outcome. FileMon is so easy to use that you'll be an expert within minutes. It begins monitoring when you start it, and its output window can be saved to a file for off-line viewing. It has full search capability, and if you find that you're getting information overload, simply set up one or more filters.
