your link was fine EXCEPT it had a "u=####" part in it, which, as was surmised in replies, will only work for you (you are user id=####). so you just remove the "u=####" stuff and it will work fine.
By the way there is also a shortcut way to link to donate to someone, as illustrated in your profile page for Donation Buttons, which shows you how to put a button on your website so people can donate to you.
