Xobni beta - Outlook Mail indexer and organizer

<< < (11/12) > >>

iphigenie:
from my experience in Outlook you can turn emails into tasks and appointments but it is only a one way thing - you can drag the email to the tasks or calendar, a pop up comes up, but then you get the information cloned without a link back to the email. I always thought that was an odd oversight. That works in 2003 as well.

I guess it leaves some room for improvements by an add on

Darwin:
Thanks for clarifying that, iphigenie. I agree, that is an odd oversight. I might have to take a look at ClearContext afterall. The one thing that really concerns me is the overhead when running plug-ins in Outlook. Each one just ramps things up...

Darwin:
Well... Xobni is now officially out of beta. I haven't used it since early last year - anyone using it regularly now and care to share insights with us?!

....... especially, have they reduced the overhead any?? I tried this when it first came out and like it but it was far too "costly" on resources.   :-\

Darwin:
Hi BigJim - that's exactly why I ditched it - over a week period or so after initial installation it really started to ramp up resource usage. The blog posts I've seen (specificlaly Lifehacker) seem to imply that these issues have been tamed.

I'd still like to hear from anyone using it before I re-install - why needlessly mess with a sold setup (when I can let somebody else bork their system first!)  ;D
