Hi guys--just registered as a result of a discussion about somebody who, from what I hear, is infamous on this site (as he is elsewhere in cyberspace including my own board): Gri. I'm certainly interested in browsing mods to SMF, since I run two boards using that code. I don't know more than entry-level coding and so code tweaking is the maximum of my talents; can't really author any of it as such.

Pleased to meet y'all!  Gri, I'm already familiar with cheesy

Welcome, and congrats on having possibly the longest name on the DC!  ohmy  cheesy cheesy cheesy

Chris here - just donated a bit to help Screenshot Captor ... yet to fully evaluate it.

I am an old fella - coming up 66.  Been on computers about 15 years and mainly do web work, graphics etc .... primarily these days maintaining one main site.  Live in SW PA - and getting very tired of winter!

Hardly have any time these days for forums but will I'm sure enjoy a browse thru here when I can.  Use an HP4600 workstation with two LCD mons and the system has about 1.5 million files I think, at last count when virus scanning ........ use Acronis for image generation backup and several externals help with that.

Muddling on with XP pro SP3 ...... and while Win 7 seems OK (Vista sucked when I (briefly) tried it!) - hope to see it thru until support ceases.  Sign of age, I run in classic mode such that it looks like my old friend Win 2k!!

Hey Curt! Now where d'ya dig that up? If I find out that you've been here without looking me up, I shall be annoyed! Anyway, thank you for that - quite amusing - I've seen the original sign, but not the "edited" one!

And a warm welcome to all who have joined recently - vhick, ChrisB257, Clara Listensprechen, and Gailin  Thmbsup

I am a 52 yo guy who lives with his wife and 16 yo daughter in a provincial town in Australia called Kingaroy.  Kingaroy is approx. 220km north west of Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland.  We have about 12,000 people.

I work as a mechanical engineer in a power station, looking after monitoring the non financial parts of the business eg plant reliability, energy efficiiency and greenhouse gas issues.

I am a Christian and like to read, watch sport, computing especially mucking around with software as a user (I can't/don't program).

I moderate on a forum at www.emailaddresses.com which is about email and is a good place to visit if you are looking for a provider or have email problems.  I have mentioned donationcoder.com over there but no advertising is allowed so I have to be careful not to breach the forum's guidelines, especially since I am a moderator.

Ozzy1's home, Norway, is also the home of an excellent email privider at www.runbox.com which has a forum over at emailaddresses.

Regards,

Jeff
Hey Jeff
Nice to see a fellow Queenslander on this site especially one only down the road from me.  I'm in Maryborough, 54 years and live with my wife and 18 year old son who is dong a moulding apprenticeship. My eldest daughter lives in Rockhampton and my middle daughter goes to Uni in Brisbane. I enjoy playing around with my pc and 4 wheel driving but not an expert at either oh and of course a few cans of good old XXXX never goes astray.

Cheers

I'm a Christian husband, Marine, father of 2, a retired Sheriff's deputy who married one of the dispatchers (she was always telling me where to go anyway, so...).  I retired in after 12 years service due to continued complications from an on-duty crash that very nearly killed me:

At the time of the crash, I had been dating my future wife for a few months, who was also a paramedic. When the doctors were planning to release me to a long term care facility for phys therapy, she asked if I could be released to her home, and she would see to my care. Her experience as a paramedic, along with 3+ years of her nursing degree completed, was enough to convince the docs that I would be in good hands.

Needless to say, she was a keeper! We've been together ever since. As a family, we all volunteer at the zoo, working with and caring for several bird species it the Bird House. This experience has transformed our own home into an indoor aviary.

Computer-wise, what little knowledge I have has been self taught. I also like to work with stained glass, as well as wood carving and woodworking.  We are going to expand our "zoo" into a breeding facility, once we find a mate for our favorite feathered friend Hannibal, formally known as Hannibal, prior to our confirming her--er, I mean his--sex through a DNA test.
