Noob question

(1/1)

alias:
Just dl'ed Screenshot Captor for eval purposes...

Is there a way to associate text with a callout balloon without creating a separate text box object inside it?  I see the endpoint text property for arrows, but not a way to put text inside balloons...

I was really hoping that was a dumb question, but I guess it wasn't...

sorry i'm suffering from a cold or flu so i havent been online much this week.

right now you can either:

* draw an arrow/line with simple text on the end.
* make a text box with text in it (if you want to add a line/arrow you have to do that separately).
if i understand your question, you want to do the text box but have an attached line. i'd like to add that as well but it can't be done in the current version.

Your idea would be cool, but what I'm not figuring out seems more basic.

If I create a callout ballon, I can't figure out a way to put text inside it, unless I create a separate text box, then turn the border off so it looks like it's not there. So, I have to create two objects, when it seems like I should only have to create the callout box, balloon, or bubble, then put the text within it.  Does that make sense?  (Thanks for the reply - I hope you're feeling better!)

I see what you are asking now,
Hate to bring bad news, but the "callout balloon" you are talking about is just a clipart image, and so your original procedure is the only way to do it currently.

It would be much nicer if those were dynamic callouts as you want, it's just not something supported yet.

It's always a kind of struggle in my mind between how much image editing should be added to Screenshot Captor, and how much should be done in more powerful image editing programs.

Keep in mind that Screenshot Captor is specifically designed to make it really easy to edit screenshots in external editors while still letting you work on the screenshots from within SC when you want.  So i can only recommend that until those features are added, find a good image editor and configure it so you can quickly call it from SC.
