When I went through admin tools-services and wasn't sure about disabling a service that was running. I stopped it and set it to manual instead of automatic. So far all but one has stayed stopped.

O and btw- real update got reenabled when I put the Real Downloader extension in firefox. But it hasn't been a problem.

the little Bluetooth app that hogs about 50 MB of RAM continuously is looking attractive for the axe - I only use it to grab pictures off my phone!
And if that one works like the windows default one, you can just kill it at startup, and it'll get started when you turn the bluetooth switch on ;)
