Mine too! I've done three versions of my handwriting as a font... but I need to standardize the placement of the letters in the squares as I keep varying it too much and the result is not natural. Need some pointers from Nosh and Deozaan, I guess

Why don't you activate the (well hidden) colored guidelines? You can do this through the Template page on the Options dialog.

In the options you can print faint guidelines that don't show up when you scan them. It really helped me. You can really see the difference between my first font where letters were all over the place and my second font where most things were pretty well aligned. It feels a bit like practicing your writing in 1st grade again. Lines of where to put the base of the character, plus the higher line for tall letters and the lower line for letters with "monkey tails."

Nothing special really, Darwin - Like D, I just followed those little horizontal guidelines at the side of each box for max top/bottom limits. I used a black permanent marker, BTW.

I've just released Release Candidate 2. Only minor changes have been made since RC1 was released: - A new logo - More documentation with Vista screenshots - Minor enhancements We will officially release Scanahand next week, if this version proves to be as stable as RC1. More info here: http://www.high-logic.com/scanahand.htmlScanahand Basic Edition costs $29.00. DC Supporting Members are encouraged to read this message.
All feedback is welcome, technical, layout, performance, font output quality, etc. Most of all, enjoy the software and don't forget to post your fonts made with Scanahand. Best regards, Erwin Denissen High-Logic Software http://www.high-logic.com/

Scanahand 2.0 is now available! Multi-page support and a template editor are the main improvements. You can now create fonts that support English, German, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Polish, Basque, Estonian, Faeroese, Frisian, Irish, Galician, Hungarian, Icelandic, Albanian, and Esperanto. Even better, the added Template Editor allows you to create custom templates, each containing a user defined set of characters. The template editor is available in both editions, but you need the Premium Edition in order to generate a font based on a custom template. For more information go to the Scanahand product page. http://www.high-logic.com/scanahand.html

Congratulations, Erwin I bought a licence before Scanahand was released at version 1 and before the Premium version was hived off. Do I need a new licence for Scanahand 2, is there an upgrade fee, and what version (Standard or Premium) do I now have?! I did check out the forum and the FAQ but couldn't find any answers.

It is hidden at the bottom of the download page: Because this new version is free for all existing customers of Scanahand, we encourage all users to download and install this new version over the existing installation. Your license for the Basic Edition will automatically become a license for the Standard Edition. So you have a license for Scanahand version 1 Basic Edition that will be accepted as a license for Scanahand 2 Standard Edition. Don't ask me why I decided to change the name of the edition... If you want to generate Symbol fonts, or want to use your own templates, you need to buy an upgrade to the Premium Edition. The upgrade costs $35.00, but for the next couple of weeks it costs only $20.00 and can be ordered from here: http://www.high-logic.com/register.htmlEnjoy the software!

Edit: I only saw the first page of this thread initially. The Premium Edition can create fonts from custom templates. Users of the Standard Edition can explore the extra features provided by the template editor to decide if they want to upgrade. Please see the Comparison Chart to see the features included in each edition. See My Review
