Nice little write-up of DonationCoder in usa today "tech_space" blog
mouser:
I don't usually post these, but DC member Hamradio found a really sweet mention of DC in a USA Today blog today that I wanted to share.
The DonationCoder NANY (New Apps for the New Year) 2008 challenge wrapped up with an assortment of cool little applications, many for Windows folk but some accessible to anyone with a Net connection. If you don't know about DonationCoder, it's a swell little site for programmers and other cussed eccentrics -- donation-based, platform-independent, and one of the few places on the Web you can (within limits) inquire about having someone maybe cook you up the oh-so-specific program you're needing.
I like their attitude a lot, obviously, and the 2008 challenge did not disappoint. Browse through the entries at the link above, and don't miss CoinCalc, which -- given some basic info from you -- can estimate how much change you've managed to squirrel away in that jar on the bookcase. I had some fun with it; give it a try and see how it does for you. It's a nice introduction to the "donationware" sensibility, and you may just find a community of like-minded souls to boot.

Fabulous, Mouser! This is the first time that I can remember such mainstream (ie outside of magazine's devoted to PC's and/or software) exposure.
COOL!
Darwin (cussed in Courtenay)
EDIT: corrected spelling of my hometown :-[
