idea: temp. pre-template, accessible by right-clicking the tray icon

Hi,

another idea:

idea: temp. pre-template, accessible by right-clicking the tray icon

So the next images you capture will not be named

"11_10_2005 , 15_56_52.png" and so on but
"Lisa's new homepage 11_10_2005 , 15_56_52.png" and so on...

The right-click menu for the tray icon would get another entry, where you just would enable (bringing up this new window) and disable the temp. pre-template mode (SC should remember the pre-template and bring it up again next time one uses it). I used a different color for the icon in the window and think the tray icon should change to that color too while that new mode is enabled.

I like the idea a lot, since I often capture lots of images in a row and don't really like having to rename them afterwards/later (not even with a renamer utility ;) ) and neither having to change the template option themselves... (I tend to forget to reverse changes like those after a while...).

What do you think?

And a tiny request: could you perhaps split up %datetime% to (or just add) %date% and %time%?

mouser:
screenshot captor has a feature made for exactly this purpose.

The "File Name QuickField" on main screen is where you are supposed to enter things like a custom name for a series of screnshots.
the quickfield can be added to the default template in any way you want, because its just a field in your template.

OR if you DONT have quickfield entry in your template, quickfield will be used INSTEAD of your template filename.

i know its a bit convoluted but it's especially set up to do the kind of stuff you are talking about.

as for date and time, see the Templates field you have lots of choices, including a comepletely custom date/time

Available Fields:
%quickfield% - quick text field from main screen
%datetime% , %date% , %time% - local date/time
%customdate% - obeys custom date format
%num% - 3digit counter
%resolution%, %capturemode%
%windowtitle%, %filename%, %nicename%, %fullfilename% ,
%description%, %fileversion% ,
%company% , %productname% , %versionstring%

Hmm... while trying to test that right now I got an Access violation and SC closed itself :(

What do you think about (optionally) changing the tray icon color as long as the Quick Field is filled with text?

mouser:
do you remember what values you were trying to set when it crashed?
i have my doubts that this is significant enough to warrant changing icons..
but i could have it should the quickfield value in the system tray menu or tooltip..

ps here is what it looks like if you keep telling sc to take a screenshot of itself, over and over:

brotherS:
More tests showed it mostly works just fine, but there's a serious bug when you try to put "." in the QuickField, you can't even close SC without using the task-manager :(

Just enter www.weirdal.com in that field and hit the capture button.
