IDEA: Explorer View change carries to subfolders
skooter1121:
1. In Windows Explorer I constantly change the view. When I then open a subfolder the view for that folder is of course the original View setting for all folders or the same as it was last viewed. It would be nice to carry a view all the way to the last sub.
Possibly have option to save this recursive View or not.
2. Another thought to have some sort of gridlines in detail view.

I think these guys had exactly the same problem and made a script to solve it ;)
before you use this script, see jojo's comment below!

I've been looking for something like this for a long while.
I tried it. The script worked somewhat the first time. There was no progress indicator. Maybe I selected the wrong options but it changed more folders than what I had selected. The 2nd time I tried to run the script, it generated an error. I think I will have to restart Windows in between uses.
I would like to see someone create a program version (rather than script implementation) with a good GUI. This could be a very useful function if it were easier to use.

Further problems!
When I rebooted the machine, after a while, I noticed that Win Explorer window would no longer open. It would start and was running as I can tell from monitoring what tasks are running, but a window would not open. I tried rebooting, etc. but no change. Without an Explorer window, I am dead in the water.
So I was forced to do a Windows Restore (after discovering that my Acronis True Image backup for the C: drive was corrupted. Sigh. Lot of work for messing around with this script. I would recommend that you ensure you have good backups, just in case before playing with this thing.
