PEEK

Another oldie but goodie that won't work in XPPro64. It installs in the registry but I get no entry in the Context Menu.

12-09-96 PEEK Version 1.1 for Windows95 and WindowsNT 4.0 Contextmenu Extension providing simple text extraction for any file. PEEK is a Shell contextmenu extension which allows you to extract only the text portion of files.
I started to post a copy of PEEK.INF that I copied out of Notepad but it seemed rather large.
If anyone is interested I can post it and there is also a peek.dll and a readme. The zip is available from the above link as peek11.zip.
There are many other oldies there too. COA32 is on the list and 10 years ago that was a "must have" app.
Peek is one that NOD could probably fix easily but he patched up Filenoter, left to check on snow for Christmas, and hasn't been heard from since. Have there been any avalanches in Sweden lately. Or maybe he tangles with some of that Swedish Holiday Cheer and hasn't recovered yet?
They make some stuff over there that looks like rain, tastes like carbolic acid, and hits like lightning. Damn, but is it ever good!!
;)
lanux128:
do you want to modify it so that it shows on the context-menu for your XP Pro64?
Cuffy:
Hopefully, yes.
It's a handy little app to identify an unknown file. Many times in the past a file without an extension when opened with Peek will be identified as a gif or bmp file.

This just popped up at PCWorld .........

Universal Viewer listed in the freeware here just basicly the same thing that Peek does and Universal Viewer works fine in this 64 bit OS.
The viewer also installs in the Context Menu so a right click will give you a look into most any file.
Problem solved 8)

Other solution would be using a 32bit file manager (like xplorer^2) on your 64bit OS :)
