Increase discussion by elevating the Mini-Reviews section?

(1/2) > >>

zridling:
I think one of the still mostly untapped parts of DonationCoder.com is the Mini-Reviews subsection. I think it would increase participation — not to mention visibility — by promoting it to the main forums section.

I enjoy finding what others have to say in a brief format on their favorite software or on programs they find useful. Even though I run a "great software list" site, I've found several fantastic programs through the recommendations of users throughout the DonationCoder.com forums. In a mini-review, I'm not looking for full evaluation, but just a paragraph or two of what the user likes and thinks would be useful to others about the program they're reviewing. Right now, it seems we're all just dropping software suggestions in the Software in the Wild section when some of those could be slightly expanded and highlighted in a more visible section.

Agree/Disagree?

mouser:
no need to discuss, it's too obviously a good idea.

however, one thing that might be worth discussing is, do the following sections need name changes:
"Software in the Wild"
"Mini-Reviews by Members"

?

mouser:
I've changed the names and order of those sections.
opinions?

I like the sound of "Software in the Wild"! :) Where is it now?

Another idea: move "Coding Snacks" up a place, so it looks like this:
Coding Snacks
Other Programs

mouser:
software in the wild changed to "General Software Discussion"
it doesnt sound as fun maybe :( but it is more clear..

ok i agree about coding snacks, doing so now.
