Odd request perhaps, but...
I'm about to begin testing some anti-spamware (popfile, spamato, expurgate) and would like to receive a LOT of spam at some specially designated mailboxes for the test.
What's the quickest way to "notify" spammers that a particular address is ripe for attack?

Put it on well visited sites as plain text would be my guess. That is why I use a contact form that doesnt display my email anywhere on the page or in the source code.

I mean this in all seriousness, go to a bunch of free porn sites and sign up for everything you can using that email address.

Sign up on the free porn sites like tinjaw said, and then goto a crap load of message boards and post your email in plain text like hamradio said. Then just sit back and hope your anti spam programs work, because your about to get more spam than Hormel can produce in a week.

nite-monkey - why do you have a picture of Adam Savage as your avatar?! Of course, you might ask why I have a picture of Amud 1 for mine... Just curious because I'd always assumed it was your picture, until I noticed the ^Adam Savage (not me)^ qualifier under it!

Create some software then submit your PAD file... The email addresses inside the PAD file will get harvested.

Also participating in some high profile mailing lists / google groups such as the w3C one will help a lot.

Make a usenet news (NNTP) post with that email address as the email address on the post. Unless things have really changed with usenet, you should almost immediately start getting messages.

Find one of those "participate in these offers to win a free iPod" things. They'll ask for your e-mail address. You will get spam. 1. get a hotmail account 2. ???? 3. Enjoy your spam !!

A few years ago I made a hotmail account and before I even used it anywhere or told anyone about it I had spam in my inbox.

You know... I've a GMail account that gets NO SPAM, EVER. I've another that gets 100's of SPAM e-mails a week. Go figure. The spam free account is set up as a anamehere@gmail.com account. The spam magnet is a differentnamehere@googlemail.com account... I wonder if there is a correlation?

I get a load of spam at gmail, but it's very very rare that any goes into my inbox, most of it gets caught by gmail's spam filter.

Yes - I should have made that clear in my post, too. Although I get a ton of spam on one of the two GMail accounts that I have, almost 100% of it winds up in the Spam folder and I never see (though I always check to make sure nothing was placed in there by mistake)!

Heh, heh - thanks for the update, nite_monkey. I'd entirely forgotten about asking it! I like Mythbusters as well... though with a 3 and a 5 year old and one TV I rarely get to watch it (I'm becoming an expert on Franklin, Dora, and shows of that ilk, though...)
