DonationCoder celebration ideas and requests to help

(1/3) > >>

mouser:
We are going to have our yearly celebration and fundraiser in January.  Seems to me that we bucked the odds by surviving and flourishing for 3 years now.

I don't know if anyone feels like helping out but i thought maybe we could start a thread where people could post ideas of things we could do and people who want to help and participate might find something they are willing to do to help.

One thing i thought might be nice is, sites often have a page with awards and quotes from users and links to reviews and writeups, etc.
I used to try to keep track of such things, and i made a (sometimes funny i hope) page of quotes here, but i've not updated it in years and i never got around to making a page linking to reviews and awards, etc. It would be a big big job to try to collect links and excerpts and screenshots of reviews/awards/blogposts/quotes, but if someone was willing to take on this job it would be a wonderful thing.  Anyone?  Contact me at [email protected] if you would like to volunteer.  Be warned it will be a big project as the aim is not just to have a list of urls but to have a nicely displayed page with links, a text excerpt, and a little thumbnail preview.  In other words a page people will enjoy browsing through.

Any other ideas of things we could do to celebrate?

Hmm... maybe a DonationWiki for the quotes awards and links pages?

mouser:
thats not a bad idea at all to use a wiki for this..

Jammo the OrganizedFellow:
The only foreseeable issue with the wiki would be to have it allow us users to be logged in here (on the forum) and there (on the wiki) so we can maintain sessions, usernames, etc.
I know it's possible! :)

And since the site is called Donation Coder, a list of top Donators and top Coders?!

mouser:
one thing we won't do is have top donator and top coder lists.
the spirit of this site is that each of us has different resources, different gifts, different lives, and different ways of adding to the community -- we don't want to start making lists saying who has contributed more than others.
