Programs not running
« on: November 29, 2007, 07:50 PM »
Just installed Find&Run. It is sitting in my systray just fine, it pops up just fine but I cannot get a program to run. I can use the 'number' or use the mouse but it won't run. Tell me it is something simple cause I like what I see so far.

try to go into options -> general and check the toggle mark for "Always launch shortcuts directly"

whatever it is change it -- see if that helps.

I have to figure out why this affects some people.
So which setting works for you picturetaker?

What's the difference between "launch directly" and FARR's default mode?

in one case, farr tells windows to run the shortcut -- which windows should figure out how to decode and execute.
in the other case, farr reads the shortcut info inside it and executes the program itself.

i'm guessing that some firewalls are blocking one of these modes on people's machines where the problem is occurring, but it could be something else too i suppose..

Could be some users have installed the URI patch from Microsoft?  Would explain why not everyone's experiencing this.
