LOGO CONTEST It's time for DonationCoder.com to have a new unique, memorable LOGO. It has to be a design that looks good very small (say 128x128 pixels) but also looks good large (like on a tshirt). You can post submissions as replies to this thread or email them directly to mouser@donationcoder.com. There is no limit to the number of submissions and no fixed expiration date for the contest. We might choose multiple logos if there are several that look good together. The winner will get some prize(s), fame, fortune, plus the thanks and gratefullness of this site.

Sounds like something I'd like to try...if I can ever find time.
Try posting over at the Deviantart forums. There are some amazing graphic artists there and some great people.

deviatnart is an amazing place - nighted, maybe a post by you about it would be better received? i've noticed that in general people don't respond very well if someone who is not already a member just drops in to make a request out of the blue?

Ok, no problem, I'll make a post there when I get back from grocery shopping. I'll talk to a few ppl I know there as well as some that I admire.
Hopefully I can get my new machine up and running soon so I can submit my own attempts. I'm having major problems with TigerDirect right now and should have had this thing decked out out a new MSI SLI mobo, processor, DDR2 RAM, blah, blah, etc. about a week ago.

Ok, here's my idea: It's based on Kniht's idea and of course someone with REAL graphic skills (that's not me ) needs to work it out. I chose a tiny colibri with a big coin to say: "At DonationCoder.com even small donations help to accomplish more." Do I smell a slogan contest coming up?  btw: a colibri is a hummingbird

btw that's supposed to be a coin with a $ on it.
ps. i really like the idea of a bird holding a coin in it's beak, with the coin making up one of the O's in the words..
i like the idea of a bird giving a coin - i think it captures the spirit of lots of people giving a little and it adding up.

How about a crumpled up cup with donation coder on the side (like a pan-handler would have), or maybe something that looks like a donation box/can (like Toys for Tots or something), or maybe an open computer case, laid on it's side, with money in it (like an open guitar case that a "street musician" would use).

although there is some "truth in advertising" in using a picture of a poor programmer on the street begging for donations in a cup to pay for programming, i think we should aim for a more "optimistic" image.
