i would like to try css and php.  What's the easiest way to go about it?
Instead of focusing on css and php, try just HTML/XHTML and CSS.

There are bound to be many other recommendations for various sites, but just don't overwhelm yourself.

A second site to check out would be http://www.w3schools.com/
I like their site cause they have more than just the basics, they touch-up on XML and PHP.

Yes, jammo, that's the route I eventually went.  But until you try one of these methods, you can't know how it's going to work for you.  So, superboyac, just build something and see what happens.
