Hi mouser. When I saw that a new version was out I got a little lazy and instead of navigating to the download page I just right-clicked on the SSC tray icon and then clicked "Check for Updates". Nothing happened. I tried again - still nothing. I don't mean that it doesn't find an update; it just doesn't seem to do anything at all. Doesn't say there is an update, doesn't say there is not an update, doesn't open a browser page. Since DCupdater doesn't work with SSC I thought that maybe at least the individual Update Check in the program would help. Is this turned off by design for some reason? If so, why not just take that link out of there - frustrating to see it but not be able to use it. Thanks! Jim Whoa!! Wrong forum! Sorry about that, but the post is still valid for Screenshot Captor! (I can't get any action from the Check for Updates link when there is an update available). Move this if possible, please.

BTW, now I am up to 11 FARR plugins that will not update. Any fix for this coming? Or are we supposed to look around for them?

Last version is amazing ! i'm having real fun with the new -launch command and the experimental delay search start seems to make FARR even more responsive this is a real delight, keep up the good work mouser

Mouser, the new experimental delay is A-W-E-S-O-M-E! I'm running AVG Anti-Virus on my computer and (from what I've read), that can make FARR pretty slow... and that's really been my experience as well. Often times I'll begin typing in something and there is a 4-5 second delay after typing the first letter before FARR will recognize anything else I type - but the new delay has fixed that - and it's WONDERFUL!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Some useful improvements: Version 2.56.01 - April 24, 2009- [BugFix] - Replacement of variables was happening prematurely in alias launch strings; hopefully this bugfix doesn't cause unintended changes in behavior.
- [Feature] - You can now pass commandline arguments to any launched program by typing "++ any args here" at the end of your search string.
- [Feature] - New Search Behavior Option that lets you enable or disable(default) scoring of files in explicit directory browsing mode.

The "#filecontents" command seems to have stopped working for me. Anybody else experiencing this?

i was afraid of this.. i believe you've found a problem with the use of %aliasdir% variable the way things are done with my new change. working on it now.

New version up 2.56.02 -- just an attempt to fix the #filecontents and other %aliasdir% problems introduced by last version. would appreciate hearing if it solves the problem for you rulfzid.

Well, since the addition or argument passing Farr has become the master of the universe in my opinion.

Sorry for the delayed response - i've been working my ass off at, well, work. With the new version, #filecontents and %ALIASDIR% seem to work perfectly. Thanks for the super-quick fix.

Mouser, did something change in your very last version with the new delayed search feature and/or the "stop search on exact regex match"? (I'm not sure which might be causing the problem)
I have an alias called "disable", which had a regex of ^disable (.*)? and it used to work well - I would type "dis", hit tab to complete and life was good (especially since the delayed search was implemented). Suddenly, now, as soon as I type "dis" the program starts searching (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu specifically, so it says in the status bar) for 3 or 4 seconds before it matches the alias. I changed the regex to ^(dis|disable) (.*)? to see if it would make any difference, but alas, no.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
PS - is there any place I can download an old version of the program to test against? I was going to double-check what I said against 2.55.01 to see if something really changed with the version or if something is screwy with my system.

I agree this would be useful and I was asking for it as well in the past.

- [Feature] - Added delayed search initiation option.
This is sooo cool! I have really been missing this, because FARR couldn't follow my typing speed and was all too busy searching long before I was finished typing what I was looking for, and when I was finished, it was often still searching for something that was not the right thing. Very often a couple of seconds (it feels like 1 to 3 seconds) was spent "Searching for plugins" - I don't know if this has been fixed too? I don't want it to search for (new?) plugins when I just want to search for something on Google...
