please help: mask looks ugly when image is hosted :(
« on: September 28, 2005, 07:02 AM »
Hi,

have a look at this please:

http://img397.images.../4369/samplex6yj.png

That image looks pretty good when I view it in SC or in my image viewer, but when I upload it at http://imageshack.us/ it looks real ugly. :(

Any idea how to fix that?

it may have to do with transparency.
try this:
before you save it, select "merge background transparency" from Objects menu.

(note this will permanently merge the transparency and you wont be able to edit the mask anymore),
but it's worth a test.

ive been thinking if i shouldnt make an option for whether you want to save transparency info in the file or else merge it in the saved file.

let me know if the test solves your problem, it will help the decision making.

there are now new options to control this automatically if you want:

Nice!

Does "on Save as" mean it's not saved when you just click "Save" (instead of "Save as")?

correct.
it means that a normal save operation will NOT merge background transparency, and will instead preserve the transparency in the file.

Hmm, what about adding an additional option "...on Save" (which would be disabled by default), to make things more clear?
