access Google desktop search from FaRR?

(1/1)

dogskull:
I am trying to create an alias that will allow me to utilize Google desktop search.  However, there appears to be some sort of security number that is generated when you run the search.  Without it the search fails.  Is it possible to access GDS from FaRR?  Sorry if this has previously been covered; I did search.

i've been considering ways to let FARR interface with google/msn/yahoo desktop indices..

a plugin interface for FARR is planned that will support such plugins, and i think that's that best and most general approach for this.. i hope that when we get nearer to actually implementing this plugin (probably not for a couple of months) that we can return to this discussion and figure out what would be the nicest way to do this.

lanux128:
hi there mouser,

i'm not a fan of GDS but if u need any help in creating the plug-in, look here:
[*]Google Desktop ID
[*]Integrate Google Desktop into Firefox
[/list]

these are for firefox actually. but i'm confident that you'll find a way to adapt them into F&RR...

best regards,
lanux

I wonder, has anyone had any luck building an alias using this technique? The one I put together will bring up the GDS search page, but I've been unable to successfully pass it a search query.
