I guess I just missed it  :(  I just saw this thread and went to purchase it, but the price has jumped.  Oh well- guess I'll have to stick with DO 8.  :(

DO8 isn't so bad  :D
it's where I'm coming from as well
to be honest I'd say I'll probably stick with mainly using DO for a while at least -
with using XP didnt really see the point of upgrading to Opus 9 though.

You might get a discount again (for XY) on DC at some stage.
It seems to be reduced every now & again so ...

Actually it (XYplorer) has been (kind of) reduced today! The newly introduced "Standard License" is 5 US bucks cheaper than the "Lifetime License" was yesterday! Okay, it's not Lifetime but at 24.95 US$ it buys you the full version of one of the top file managers, including free upgrades for a full major version cycle (this includes about 200 BETA releases, if the pace continues as it went the last years). And when you look at XY's roadmap for the coming months, you'll see that 24.95 US$ will get you a good fat piece of evolution. :P

I just can't justify buying another file manager when I have one that's serviceable now.  It might not have all of the features of XY, but after what I've spent on it, something would have to be quite inexpensive to justify any expenditure.  I was willing to pay $30 for lifetime, but I'm sick of software where I pay and then have to keep paying other than a token fee for upgrades, unless they're essential to my work process. :(

wraith makes the open source case! I really like the additional licensing option for XYplorer, and once again, it's a first. XYplorer is the first application to retain its Lifetime License option rather than drop it solely in favor of version upgrades. I love it. Use whatever file manager you like, but if you haven't checked out XYplorer 6.40, you're cheating yourself, I promise.

I ask again about XYPlorer, is there any way to make it intercept explorer calls (I.E., start - run commands, shell commands to open a folder, etc)? If not, then its useless to me.

It can be done, but since XYplorer strictly follows a hands-off-registry philosophy I will not add it as a one-click button.

Here's the way:

Wow, Don. Thanks for the link to that part of the XYplorer FAQ. I won't be implementing the changes any time soon, but it's nice to know that it can be done

I am glad that i do not miss the chance to get this wonderful piece of software for this price(22.50€). Although i am follower of Servant Salamander this file manager is different. Almost anything is adjustable.

Best regards,
Dirk

Wow,

You DCers (maybe I should put 'my friends') never cease to astound me. Because of the contibutions/donations of numerous individuals, I received enough money to purchase the software (if I can wrench it away from mouser that is) and have done so. As I started to type this post, I received my permanent license in my email. THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone that contributed.

I LOVE DC!

Appreciatively, Ken

@KenR: Happy to hear we could help, I'm sure you'll enjoy Xyplorer...I know I do :)

@DonL: Was planning to listen to this episode later tonight, and it should be interesting to hear what they think. Is it his software pick of the week or...?

 ;D

I use XYPlorer and love it!!  I still haven't explored all it's features, either. Some things: I used to use all kinds of other search tools, but now ONLY use XY...    and I adore how it lets me save the data that result from the searches.  I've yearned for a way to do that for years!!

I like the way it fulfills so many needs (like preview and property screens)...and it even easily launches me to webpages/programs/folders/files I've stored in the Catalog window.  (I suspect that my telling the features does not remotely express how awesome they are.)   Moving and copying things is a breeze.  I do like Dopus (own it, too), but feel XYplorer is a better value.  I turn to XYplorer most often when I need to do something.  And Don is always improving his baby.  Daily even.   He never sleeps, I suspect.  :tellme:   He pretty much *gives* this program to the world, when you think about it.  Figure the profits are next to none...after the project consumes most of his time.   Don is a gem and I hope the world someday rewards his work and his energy and his beautiful spirit.  (He's funny and brilliant, too...and I believe he dances the tango....)   :-*  Check out his mighty Beta Club (forum) if you really want to see how cool he is and what his many clients have to say.
